postlainey

Lainey Burman was selected by Lipscomb University, Nashville, to attend the Lipscomb and Nissan BisonBot robotics camp June 9-13.

Lainey was one of 129 students selected. She toured the Nissan automotive plant in Smyrna, TN where she learned about electric cars of the future and had the chance to work with Nissan engineers to build various robots.

During the course of the week Lainey got to build her own six-degree-of-freedom robotic arm and learned to solder. The final day the campers had a competition using the robotic arms they each had built. The students were timed as they maneuvered their robots to pick up and deposit blocks of different shapes and marbles onto a conveyor belt that then moved the items into a large container.

After many heats and a final championship round Lainey was the grand winner with the most items deposited into the container. She was asked to come back next year as a Camp Counsellor.
